Stage Academy is an after-school program that teaches kids about teamwork and theatre, and helps build self-confidence and creativity. Time spent at Stage Academy is made up of fun improvisation activities, acting exercises, technical stage education, entertaining games and, of course, play rehearsals.
Stage Academy is unique from other children's theatre programs because we tailor our shows to the students - not the other way around. Every child who wants to has the opportunity to participate and will have time (and lines!) on stage. During the first week of the session we get to know our students, and then select and write a play specifically for them, created to work with and incorporate their unique personalities, abilities and strengths.
Students meet after school two or three times a week for six weeks, at the end of which they perform their plays for family, friends and the community!
The participation fee for the general session is $75, but thanks to generous sponsorship donations, parent responsibility for this session is only $60. Multiple-payment plans and scholarships are available to help address financial need. Contact Katy Ottosson Nye at youth@georgedaily.orog if you have questions about financial aid.
